When you think of Africa you probably think of lions and elephants, giraffes and rhinos. Maybe you even think about gorillas and leopards.

And Africa is all of those things, but it’s also so much more.

There are so many intriguing and varied aspects to Africa – from the stunning beaches of Zanzibar to the expansive plains of the Masai Mara, from the natural beauty of Uganda to the fascinating ruins of Ethiopia.

People will often travel to Africa once and think they’ve seen it, but would you go to France and say you’ve seen Europe? Or Vietnam and say you’ve seen Asia? Africa is made up of 54 countries, all diverse, all interesting, all with their own stories and highlights.

We first travelled to Africa in 2003 when I was sent to South Africa for work. Ade joined me over Christmas for a safari through Tanzania and a week relaxing in Zambia on the edge of Victoria Falls.

Somehow Africa snaked its way into our hearts and minds and each time we go we discover a little more to love about this fascinating continent and find yet more places we want to explore.

We can’t tell you which bit of Africa is our favourite – there’s still way too much for us to explore to know that yet, but we can tell you the people in Uganda are some of the nicest we’ve met, we had the best lion experience in the Masai Mara, trekking for gorillas in Uganda was magical, South Africa felt like home but with an edge and white water rafting at the base of Vic Falls took us completely outside of our comfort zone and is still one of the most amazing adventures we’ve had.
