There is vibrancy in Central America that is unlike anywhere else in the world. The Spanish culture combined with the history of ancient civilisations from the Aztecs to the Mayans and the Zapotec to the Incas add in stunning beaches and you’ve got a travel delight.

And then there is Cuba. There is something special about Cuba.

I admit I was a little hesitant at the thought of going to this part of the world. All the stories I’d heard about Central America – and in particular Mexico – spoke of violence and drugs, not for me I’m afraid.

But Central America is, of course, a series of diverse cities and countries. Sure, there are some areas that are more troubled than others, but there is also immense beauty, fascinating history and life overload. Everything is more vibrant in this part of the world, the colours, the spices, the music, the dancing and we’ve only just scratched the surface.
