In Jordan we found a tiny country packed with history and full of diversity.

We snorkelled in the Red Sea and floated in the Dead Sea.

We rode camels through a desert, where we camped in fancy tents under a sky popping with stars and learned how to apply kohl like a Bedouin.

And in open backed utes, we drove around bends and through channels of rock at Wadi Rum as rain fell all around us.

At Petra we found a city of the past, a city built into rock. We climbed the rock to drink tea overlooking the Treasury building, the famous image of Petra, battled camels and mules to walk to a monastery high on a hill and sacrificial rock away from the crowds.

We marvelled over Petra by day and again by night, where a lightshow lit up the Treasury building.

We saw a mosaic map of the Middle East created in the sixth century and wandered through a castle overlooking the Silk Road and through an old Roman City built on a hill.
