The first time we went to Malaysia it was to deliver media training for the company I was working for at the time. We were on our honeymoon. Ade stayed in Thailand while I flitted across to Malaysia for a couple of days to deliver the training.
I didn’t see a lot.
Certainly didn’t see anything that made me want to rush back.
But then Borneo started calling to us. As a wildlife lover Ade was determined to see the orangutans and other animal delights Borneo has to offer.
We fell in love. What’s not to love about monkeys that look like old men (proboscis monkeys) or colourful birds with bills so large they’ve been given the name rhinoceros hornbill? And don’t even get us started on those orangutans, watching the babies play must be one of the cutest things we’ve seen.
We found some of the clearest waters we’ve swam in in Borneo and found ourselves surrounded by turtles near the islands off Semporna.
And then there’s Penang. A place so chilled yet so vibrant. The food, the street art, the vibe… We didn’t want to leave.
